Whether you’re a renter or a homeowner, we all need a stable place to call home. Right now, the system is out of balance, and the 4 in 10 Oregonians who rent can lose their homes for no reason due to no-cause evictions and extreme rent increases.
We can provide renters with basic housing stability by ending no-cause evictions and allowing local communities to enact rent stabilization policies. These policies are more important than ever as Oregon faces a severe statewide housing crisis, and they are a major priority for the Housing Alliance.
We’re a member of the Stable Homes for Oregon Families coalition and will be participating in a lobby day at the Oregon State Capitol on Thursday, March 2 from 12:30-7:00. We’re inviting people who care about the stability and wellbeing of renters and we’re calling on legislators to enact a just cause eviction standard and allow local communities to implement rent stabilization ordinances. This is your chance to meet face-to-face with legislators and tell them firsthand about the severity of the crisis impacting renters. Legislators hear a lot from landlords in opposition to tenant protections—now we need them to hear from you.
Never been to a lobby day? We’ll set up meetings with your legislators, divide you into teams, and provide training so you’re ready to share why you care about protecting tenants—and why the Legislature must act now. It’s fun, easy, and makes a real difference.
Registration is required so we can ensure you have a chance to meet you’re your legislator. Sign up here!
